full name frederic "freddy" leland seawick date of birth / age 7 april 1975 / 39 birthplace polperro, cornwall, UK current residence London & New York City occupation frontman of soundless marital status Single, divorced children isadora harper and hector nicholas (b. 3/2/06) other family james (father, retired fisherman), mary (mother, retired nurse), cat (older sister, social worker), naomi (older sister, child psychiatrist)
  • THE MUSIC VIDEO FOR SOUNDLESS' BREAKOUT HIT "YELLOW" WAS FILMED AT SUNRISE ON A BEACH IN FREDDY'S CHILDHOOD HOME OF POLPERRO. THE VIDEO WAS FILMED IN A SINGLE TAKE, JUST AS DAWN WAS BREAKING OVER THE OCEAN. LATER THAT SAME DAY, FREDDY WENT ON TO MARRY HIS LONGTIME GIRLFRIEND NOREEN HULL IN A SMALL PRIVATE CEREMONY ATTENDED BY THEIR CLOSE FRIENDS AND FAMILY. FREDDY WOULD GO ON TO EXPLAIN THAT BOTH THE LOCATION AND THE TIMING OF THE VIDEO WERE CHOSEN FOR THE SIGNIFICANCE THEY HELD IN RELATION TO THE SONG ITSELF: "YELLOW" WAS THE FIRST SONG HE EVER WROTE FOR NOREEN, AND THE STRETCH OF BEACH FEATURED IN THE CLIP WAS WHERE HE HAD PROPOSED TO HER A YEAR PRIOR, AS WELL AS THE SETTING OF THEIR VERY FIRST DATE TOGETHER AT THE AGE OF 16.
  • A longtime sufferer of insomnia and nightmares, Freddy firmly believes that all his best ideas come to him in the middle of the night. When he does manage to catch some sleep, he makes sure there's always something to write with and on nearby. Just in case.
  • Following the financial success of their first two albums, Freddy purchased a small B&B on the coast as a gift for his parents Jim and Mary, allowing them both to finally retire from their careers as a fisherman and a nurse, respectively. The Seawick Inn has been in business for going on ten years now.
  • Spiritual but no longer religious, Freddy was raised in a Roman Catholic household. However, nowadays he doesn't feel equipped to affiliate himself with any one specific religious group.
  • Was named the World's Sexiest Vegetarian by PETA in 2005. Spent a year as a vegan, but he left the lifestyle behind in favor of vegetarianism after the birth of his children.
  • Is absolutely convinced that he'd make a truly godawful actor, but he still gets a huge kick out of making small guest appearances in movies and TV shows alike (especially if he gets to play a parody of himself, seeing as he feels the idea of being a "rock star" is the most ludicrous thing he's ever heard). He also makes a point of being thoroughly involved in every music video the group puts out and he takes a lot of pride in the extensive videography Soundless has put together over the years. To date, some of his favorites of theirs include Strawberry Swing, The Scientist, and Yellow.
  • In 2010, Freddy wrote the song "Me and Tennessee" for the film Country Strong. The song, performed in the film by stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Tim McGraw, was included on the film soundtrack and even managed to peak at number 34 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart. Freddy's involvement with the film was meant purely for a laugh after Freddy bet his bandmates that he could make a hit song out of anything, even a country music tune. The song's modest yet still unexpected success is a source of much cringing and embarrassment for him to this day.
  • Known for writing messages of activism and social awareness on his hands and his piano for live performances, Freddy believes that it is his responsibility as a public figure to draw awareness and inspire debate on issues that would otherwise remained unheard and unresolved. He has been especially vocal with his views on issues such as fair trade, the war in Iraq, disaster relief to third world countries, the Robin Hood Tax, global anti-poverty efforts, literacy, arts funding, and the recent Ebola crisis, among many others. Freddy has also gone on the record saying he identifies as a feminist and has shown support for Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry as well as President Barack Obama.
  • Once heard himself referred to as "Bono Lite". It wasn't meant as a compliment, but Freddy was still happy to take it as one.
  • The most famous contact in Freddy's phone is, in his personal opinion, Prince Harry. Prince Harry's personal cell phone number, no less. Freddy doesn't understand how or why he was entrusted with such a thing, but he'd be lying if he said he wasn't a little bit giddy at the thought of having a member of the royal family in his iPhone contacts.
  • Over the course of their marriage, his wife Noreen became a bit of an underground sensation in the fashion world thanks to her unique, effortlessly chic sense of style as well as a penchant for affordable, environmentally friendly beauty products and regimens. After receiving quite a few offers over the years to write a guest column for several health, fashion, and lifestyle magazines, Noreen opted instead to start her own publication. Since its creation, Noreen's lifestyle blog has attracted a core group of dedicated online followers, and even experienced a distinct upward spike in subscribers following the news of her split from Freddy in 2009.
  • His ex-wife married British businessman Luc Ryan in 2014, causing the media to speculate that the vast majority of songs written for Ghost Stories were inspired by Freddy's struggle to accept that "the love of his life" had moved on with another man. Neither Freddy nor the band have ever commented on this rumor. Instead, the official answer given when asked about inspiration for the album is simply "unconditional love".
  • Freddy has two tattoos: an H on one wrist and an I on the other, representing his two children, Hector and Isadora. He has no plans for any more (tattoos or children).
