Now That's What We Call 'Girl Power': Season 2 of Jessica Jones Will Be Directed Exclusively By Women

What should we expect from your episode of Black Mirror?
You're not going to believe this but I honestly believe it's, like, the most optimistic episode of the series to date. I don't want to get too deep into it — I can't get too deep into it — but I can honestly say that the world of San Junipero is the only one that doesn't absolutely terrify me. It's the only one episode I've come away from thinking, "Hmm… that wouldn't be so bad, would it?" Like, I wouldn't mind living in that world someday. All the other episodes portray such grim, bleak realities. It's an incredibly dark show overall. But San Junipero is different. I mean, it's a Black Mirror story, through and through. There's no doubting that much. But it's not the type of dark, damning tale you might've come to expect from the series. It's a bittersweet story, to be sure, but I'd say it’s a fairly heartwarming one as well.

Your episode of Black Mirror has its roots set in the 1980s.
[Laughs] Or does it?

Right, sorry. Your episode of Black Mirror appears to have its roots set in the 1980s. On a related note, earlier this year you took on a role in another piece of classic 1980s pop culture: the sequel to the 1982 hit Blade Runner. Can you tell us anything about your role in that project?
Oh man. I absolutely, positively cannot say a thing about that one. No way. All I can really say is that I spent some time this summer hopping back and forth between Budapest and Cape Town [where Brinke filmed the big screen adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower] and just… it’s wicked. I can’t believe I get to be a part of something so iconic. Blade Runner is one of my all time favorite movies. I can’t believe they ever let me on set, let alone cast me in the follow up.

Sounds like you’ve been having a pretty good year.
I’ve been having a f—king fantastic year. I really feel like I’ve finally hit my stride as an actress. I’m finally getting to play the kinds of complex, incredible characters I dreamt about having a crack at when I first started acting. I’m working on some really amazing stories with some really amazing people, actors and directors I never even believed I’d get to meet, let alone share a billing with. I’m really, truly happy with where my career has taken me. I like, constantly have to pinch myself just to remind myself it's for real.
